Did you know carrots can be a powerhouse ingredient in your skin care routine? Carrots are high in beta-carotene, a naturally occurring compound that provides the vegetable with its vibrant pigment. What can it do for our skin? What doesn’t it do!! No seriously, these little pigments are seriously helpful to our skin. Here are three reasons why:

  1. Gives your Skin a Healthy Glow. Once ingested, beta-carotene turns into Vitamin A. We all know Vitamin A performs several important functions in our body. For one thing, it’s a powerful antioxidant that fights oxidative damage caused by pollutants and the suns rays. It also helps to form glycoproteins which help our cells to grow rapidly. More cell turnover means younger looking, glowing skin
  2. Reduces Sun Sensitivity. Studies show regular consumption of beta carotene can reduce the effects of sunburn and provide a limited amount of sun protection (you still need your SPF ladies!)
  3. Aids in Treatment of Skin Conditions. When applied topically, beta-carotene can aid in treating conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It can even help diminish age spots!

So add some carrot juice into your morning routine. Throw on a beta-carotene based face mask and get some glow in your life
